RAMIREZ
A shooting in the Sand Hill community over the weekend left one 22-year-old man dead and a second in jail facing a murder charge.
Andrade Irving, 22, of Ovett, was killed Saturday evening at a residence on Lovewell Road. According to Sheriff Stanley McLeod, Irving was shot one time in the neck with a .380-caliber handgun, and was pronounced dead on the scene shortly after 9 p.m. Cain Alex Ramirez, 22, of 574 Lovewell Road, is being charged with murder in the shooting.
McLeod said the initial investigation indicates that Ramirez and a female, who was not named, were sitting in a vehicle at Ramirez’s residence when Irving arrived and an argument ensued. Ramirez claims he fired the weapon in self-defense when Irving opened the door to the passenger’s side of the vehicle where he was sitting.
McLeod said Ramirez was the person who made the 911 call about the incident.
Investigators found no weapons on Irving when they arrived on the scene. McLeod said the investigation is ongoing and that the case will be turned over to the next Greene County Grand Jury for consideration.
Ramirez had an initial appearance in Greene County Justice Court earlier this week and had bond set at $100,000 on the charge. As of late Tuesday Ramirez remained in custody at the Greene County Jail.
