The Town of Leakesville’s Events Planning Committee is hosting its fall community-wide yard sale Saturday morning beginning at 7 a.m.
The committee began hosting this event two years ago to get residents out and about and involved with one another. The event is hosted twice a year, in the spring and again in the fall. The event has had good participation and given folks from around the county the chance to get up early to see what goodies they can find.
Leakesville Town Clerk Rex Garretson said the community event was in part at the request of the community. Many people in the community hold yard sales at various times, and this event helps bring them together.
“This event gives people time to do community mingling,” said Garretson. “People get to get out and talk and visit with each other.”
Standard yard sale items will be available, along with many hand-made items. This community event helps local churches, organizations and individuals with fundraising projects as well.
An interactive map of all locations registered for the community-wide yard sale will be available online at the Town of Leakesville’s Facebook page. Folks from outside the town can register to set up a spot at Leakesville’s Green Park to be in the center of the action. The committee encourages participation from any residents of the county wanting to be a part of this community-wide event.
Everyone in the county community is encouraged to get out bright and early Saturday morning to do a little treasure hunting, catch up with some old friends and make some new ones. Enjoy a crisp fall morning with lots of great deals and community-wide fellowship.
