An Alabama man and woman are in jail in Greene County facing multiple charges related to a string of thefts from a local auto body shop’s vehicle storage yard.
Terry Wayne Bohannon, 39, of 8650 John Shinn Road, Chunchula, Ala. and Brittney Theresa Pugh, 33, of 8820 Valhalla Drive, Eight Mile, Ala. were taken into custody earlier this week and charged with grand larceny, burglary of commercial property and receiving stolen property. Their arrests follow a month-long investigation into theft of vehicles from the West Body Shop vehicle storage yard just off Old Hwy. 63 near the Mt. Pisgah community.
According to Chief Deputy Brad Warrick, local officials were investigating a string of six vehicle thefts from the yard in recent weeks when they got a call from Mobile County alerting them that one of the vehicles had been found at a residence there. According to Warrick, authorities in Mobile County told him when they came upon the vehicle at a residence they found Bohannon standing beside it with a cutting torch. He was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property, but later released on bail.
This past Monday night a seventh vehicle went missing from the yard. On Tuesday morning, that vehicle was spotted on a trailer at a residence on Browntown Road. The truck pulling the trailer and stolen truck was reportedly registered to Bohannon, who police found at the residence along with Pugh.
Bohannon and Pugh’s current charges stem from the vehicle found in their possession on Tuesday. However, Warrick said he anticipates additional charges in the case. Bohannon also faces multiple charges in Alabama related to stolen vehicles.
